RVV

VISIBILITY, RUNWAY VISIBILITY VALUE (RVV) - The visibility determined for a particular runway by a transmissiometer, a photoeletric device calibrated in terms a human observer. A meter in the control tower provides a continuous indication of the visibility (reported) in miles or fractions of miles for the runway. RVV is used in lieu of prevaivilng in determining minimuns for a runway. This program is gradually being replaced by RVR at transmissiometer locations.
