CONTROL ZONE

Controlled airspace which extends upward from the surface of the earth and terminates at the base of the Continental Control Area. Control zones that do not underlie the Continental Control Area have no upper limit. A control zone may include one or more airports and is normally a circular area of five statute miles in radius with extensions where necessary to include instrument approach and departure paths.
